Message from the Headmaster
Term has got off to a superb start and it has been good to see both pupils and staff embarking upon the year with such enthusiasm and energy. Of course, the excellent examination results have been a major cause for celebration and it seems that pupils in all year groups are eager to rise to the challenge of emulating the wonderful achievement of last year’s Upper Sixth Form who secured simply outstanding A level grades. The sporting year has also begun very well with some fantastic victories for our hockey and rugby teams. As you will all know, Saturday is Foundation Day and I look forward to seeing the many parents who will be with us on a day when we recall the achievements of the past twelve months and look forward to what will, I am sure, be an even more successful year ahead.

"Living Streets"
As part of our range of Green Travel initiatives, “Living Streets” presented to all of our 4th Form and Remove pupils during September. “Living Streets” run the national “Walk To School” campaign and their presentation was intended to inspire pupils to walk more, as well as to develop their awareness of the health, environmental and social benefits of walking to school. A mixture of music, dance and quiz questions certainly provided a lively start to the day and new 4th Form pupils Hope Smith (School), Lily Pitharas (School), Rhianna Duthie (McClure) and Ben Brown (Cedars) all picked up prizes.
Drugs Presentation: Thursday 30th September
We have arranged for perhaps the best-known speaker on this subject in education, Mr. Jonnie Leach (pictured), to come into School at the end of the month. He will speak to the Remove and 5th Form year groups in the afternoon, will then address members of the teaching staff, particularly those with pastoral responsibilities, and finally will deliver a presentation to parents between 6.30 pm and 8.00 pm in The Large. Tea and coffee will be available from 6.00 pm. Parents of pupils of all ages are welcome to attend, although we would ask that you inform Mrs Breege Toumazou in School Reception (breege@millhill.org.uk or 020 8959 1176) of your intention to do so in order that we can manage numbers appropriately.
An invitation to attend has also been sent to parents of Year 8 pupils at Belmont. The focus of the evening event is very much on addressing the parental perspective on this issue and we therefore request that no children, either pupils of the School or their siblings, should accompany their parents/guardians.
Millhillian wins bronze at European League athletics
We were delighted to learn that Jack Perry-Williams (Ridgeway) recently represented Great Britain at the European Champion Clubs Cup for Junior Men (under age 20) in the 3000 metres steeplechase event. The competition was held at the Stadium CWS Zawisza in Poland and represented Jack's first overseas event.
He came in a very impressive 3rd out of 16 runners, winning himself the bronze medal, in a time of 6 minutes and 20 seconds.
Well done Jack!
